Architects and urban planners are now facing the issue of a sustainable city. To improve the global biotope in the city and reduce the building carbon footprint, green wall appeared as an innovating environmental tool. Canevaflor is a french cleantech company involved in this field with a depolluting green wall, protected by a patent, having three environmental assets : heat insulation, acoustic insulation and air depollution.
COMPANY PROFILE
Created in 2000, Canevaflor specializes in biodegradable mulching for Mosaiculture. In 2004, Pascal Peleszezak expands its activities and decided to devote himself to the realization of vegetated walls. He develops a concept, patented, based on a specific substrate.
THERMAL & SOUND INSULATION – AIR QUALITY IMPROVMENT
The Canevaflor wall is constructed from metal mesh cells, assembled and filled with the substrate on which will grow plants. This substrate consists of fiber, perlite and mineral elements on which Canevaflor has the secret. Irrigation of the wall is ensured by a system of drip-drip-regulated. Another network of pulsing allows polluted air to reach the heart of the wall. This is where comes the biofilter. Micro-organisms from the wall are consuming pollutants and play a keyrole of biofiltration. Canevaflor wall, which helps to maintain biodiversity in the city also has very good properties of sound and heat insulation of buildings and contributes to improved air quality.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL APPROACH
The spirit Canevaflor goes further and also focuses on how the walls are produced: nurseries that supply plants are selected for their environmental approach, their community involvement and their proximity to the site (short circuit and know-how local perennials on the region). Installation is done by a local company which will then be responsible for maintenance. This is applied in France and abroad.
EXPORT STRATEGY
Several communities and societies have chosen to adopt the Canevaflor concept. The urban community of Grand Lyon for decontaminating a wall plant, and also in the north of France with EuraLille Garden. New projects are underway in Paris, Marseille, Le Havre or the Principality of Monaco for example. Canevaflor has also attacked the international market where demand is very strong. In Switzerland, it planted walls and roofs of underground Flon station in Lausanne. In China, it completes its participation in the flag of the Region Rhone-Alpes for the Shanghai Expo in 2010, with a roof and a wall vegetated bio-filters. In recent years, the company was represented in numerous exhibitions internationally oriented (Easyfairs, Pollutec, BUDMA, Project Lebanon). Trade are well underway for Outlook on other continents, Brazil and the UAE in particular.
