Sort trash to produce energy from biogas : the microbial fuel cell research is becoming a real option for generating electricity. Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are devices in which bioelectrochemical reactions and biocatalytic transformations lead to the conversion of organic matter to electricity via microbial or enzymatic participation. A french start up, PACMI managed by Luc Etcheverry from the Laboratoire de Genie Chimique from Toulouse, is developing of a microbial fuel cell to treat effluents and produce power. This project demonstrates how organic waste is more than ever a future energy source.
